This group is designed to support and assist the Humane Society of Louisiana with its animal cruelty prevention and investigation programs in New Orleans and around the state. Members can host and attend special events, coordinate membership drives, and help generate extra revenue and/or resources for the group.
The Humane Society of Louisiana is not affiliated with any national organization. All funds raised help animals in our community and in our state.
The Humane Society of Louisiana has proven to be very effective in conducting cruelty investigations, campaigning for new and tougher animal protection laws, and advocating for the protection of all animals.
The group previously operated an animal rehabilitation shelter, called the Safe House for Abused Animals, but it was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. The group presently operates a makeshift shelter in Tylertown, Mississippi and houses more than one hundred animals on site.
